Black Velvet is a dwarf Alocasia and has dark, almost black leaves, adorned with brilliant silvery-white veins and velvety look makes for a strikingly beautiful plant. The underneath colour throws off a purple tone. Anthurium-like flowers are produced throughout the year when growing conditions are favourable.

They grows best in bright, indirect light. Care also requires that the soil be free draining but hold some water. If you are growing this plant as a houseplant, half and half mix of potting soil and orchid soil or perlite will provide the kind of soil anthuriums prefer.
